Top 3 Stephin Merritt side projects:

2. Future Bible Heroes
3. The Gothic Archies
In other news, I worried briefly about marriage on my sojourn to California, as I waited on the streets of San Francisco for a high school friend I was meeting for lunch. No, I didn't want to marry her. No, I don't want to marry anyone else that I know. I was worried in the abstract way that one worries about things that are too abstract as a class to worry about any particular possible instance. What I worried about was that I would end up meeting someone and then getting married and then I would ignore all of my friends and just spend time with my wife and then one day I'd realize that I was extremely unhappy, but that it was all I had since everything else had slid away.
Pretty selfish daydream, eh? Well, two minutes later my friend from high school showed up, and she's cool, and we had lunch, and then went and looked at the Pacific Ocean, which as I told her, is so much more optimistic than the Atlantic Ocean, and I felt all better and ready for a night of drinking and partying.

Returned from California. More later.

Dear Stalker,
So you thought I was an easy mark? Well, I have decided to show you how
wrong you are by escaping from right under your nose. I am in California
now, and you will not succeed in touching me from here. I look forward
to eating sushi, seeing friends, attending a party, and laughing at your
inept attempts to track me. Ha! I say.

P.S. Please don't break into my apartment and steal my stuff.

An open letter to web-loggers and indie scenesters:
I have read a fair amount of what you folks have written, and looked at lots
of neato group pictures of cabal-members at sxsw, and the one question I'm left
with is, where, among all of the single, well-educated, web-loving
indie-logging folk, was the love? I don't mean the feeling--I mean the hot,
sweaty, ecstasy-induced orgies that was everyone's real subconscious reason
for going. Well? What do you folks have to say for yourselves? I thought so.

Funniest thing heard on the radio in a long time:
Today Noah Adams on All Things
Considered interviews one of the head activist's at the IMF/World Bank
Protests in D.C. He asked her what kind of organization she would set up in
place of the World Bank if given the opportunity. She responded with some
pap about "a participatory body", and he shot back, "So it sounds like you
really haven't given it much thought." HA!

Well, I stumbled across this today,
and since my pita is down for maintenance, I had to put it here. After a long
torturous day at work and then an annoying class tonight, it made me just
want to book a plane ticket and get the hell out of here. It also reminded
me I should get the rest of my Thailand pictures developed and scan them in
to bore the online crowd. Anyway, I probably won't do either of these things
soon, but that doesn't mean you can't seize upon my daydreams and make them
your own. Hate your job? Quit! Hate school? Quit! Sell your car and your
computer and you've probably got enough money to live like a king while
backpacking through Asia for a good chunk of time. What are you waiting
for!?!

Too lazy to do anything of substance, but I will say that one problem with
the internet is the increased incidences of shopping while drunk. This
happened to me this weekend, and I now await a couple of CD.
Here's a song
off an album I may regret having purchased. I do like this song, though--for
now.

Returned to the world of grey skies and wide hips. Very angry.

The bargain conscious shopper can pick up Supergrass's s/t for $6.99 at Best
Buy--or at least at the Best Buy I went to. The weather today has been
quirky and varied, but it's chilly, and that's not good. I'm actually making a
quick run out of town this week, which should restore my faith in humanity.

GbV review is up. Eventually I'll get
around to reading it for syntax and semantics. All other news on hold
for a few days. Patience grasshopper.
