I'd like to announce that for some unknown reason,
Dexter's Laboratory has
become my favorite cartoon of the moment.

Perhaps I posted this observation before, but I think it bears repeating: Why
do woman still write checks? Or rather, why is it only woman that still write
checks? I don't mean when you're paying bills at home, I mean when you're in
the store with 5 people behind you. I believe the last man who wrote a check
in line at the store did it in 1995, but I may be wrong. You have an ATM/debit
card, you have a credit card, you can get cash from either of these--why do
you need another option?

Nope. No news yet. I thought though, that I'd propose a little something to
do when you're bored while in an airport. I have found that pretty much
every album I own that I really like would make a great soundtrack to the
movie of the lives of the people you see at the airport. Go ahead. Plop
a CD in your player, observe, and think about what part of the movie that
would be. What does this song say about the tired old woman towing her
screaming grandaughter at Gate A24? It works, trust me.
Conversely, if you're in a band, and you need to concept for a video, I propose that there's always a good video to be made for your song at the airport. Unless you suck.

I'm excited, but I can't tell you about what, because then I'd feel bad
if I jinxed it and it didn't happen. Perhaps I'll have good news soon,
though.

In the latest installment of Sean's laundry list of things done and places
been:
Went to Chicago as promised and had a good time. It's a little pocket of the rest of the world situated here in the Midwest. Started out Friday night at Buddy Guy's Legends, which is definitely a bit touristy. Still, I'm all for putting money in the pocket of a fantastic guitarist, and the performers on Friday we're quite good, it being the weekend of the Chicago Blues Festival and all. Saturday went to the Field Museum and was disappointed to discover that the Dead Sea Scrolls exhibit was sold out (huh? My thoughts exactly), but comforted by the Underground Adventure with lots of buttons to push and giant animatronic insects. After that my friend and I walked up to the Navy Pier and then back down to the Blues Festival before heading off to a bar for some nightlife. Sunday, swung up by Northwestern so I could check out the school and then back down to the Art Institute of Chicago which was fantabulous. All this, and then an exciting drive back to Dayton. Anyway, the above conveys none of the fun I had, but trust me, it was fun.

Being the wandering soul I am, I'm off to Chicago for the weekend. It's
Blues Festival weekend coincidentally, so maybe that'll play into the fun.
Whatever I do, though, I won't be doing it in Dayton!

Made a quick page to try something with frames, and to
show some pictures of mine. Check
back for more updates to this.

So today I indulged my audiophile fantasy and dropped some money to buy a
decent amplifier and
nice speakers.
To satisfy the true audio-nerds, I'll disclose that the two are connected with
Straight Wire. Anyway, the gist of
it all is that I have less money in my bank account, but my stereo is pretty
cool. It even necessitated a movement of all the furniture in my living room.
Otherwise, life is fine. Most of last week was crazy due to the aforementioned
going to New York, but I'm doing much better now. If only I can plan that
upcoming trip to Chicago now.....
