Hey, here's a quickie. Check out this and note my comments. Then check out the reaction. Note this is first time that I have been connected to Hitler.

I'll be in Dayton, Ohio less than three months.

The best that can be said about the place is that it's not pretentious. I show up close to midnight at a local watering hole, after taking ~$30 from others playing cards, and see the elite of Dayton's music scene there to support another local band. The lead singer from the local Go-Gos wannabe band was there, along with the very talented Chris McCoy), and the indomitable Dave Doughman from Swearing at Motorists, which by my calculation is the third coolest band in the US right now.

What was I saying? Oh yeah, Dayton's not very pretentious. I get the sense that if I liked my job, and had a girlfriend who was cool, I might just be OK with living in this town for awhile. It's easy. You go out, avoid the loser crowds at the wrong places, and just float along as part of the scene. There are no "beautiful people" in Dayton.

Of course, it's a done deal that I won't be here in 90 days. If the stars align and things work out, I'll be at school come the end of summer (subliminal message: LET ME IN. LET ME IN). If things go awry, I'll be getting a job and such via way of a trip to Europe. So there's a wide range of options which exist, and no set timetable as to when this will all be sorted out.

I'm OK with uncertainty, and I'm OK with Dayton--at least I will be with the town in my rear view mirror

True to form, the weather in southwest Ohio turned nice for about 2 days last week. Then, it turned humid and hot. Then came the thunderstorms. Also predictably, somebody was struck by lightening and killed last night. None of this is noteworthy. I tell you this only so I can deliver this line heard as a teaser for the evening news: "Tonight, learn how to protect your family from lightening."

Jumping Jesus on a pogo stick! GO INSIDE PEOPLE! This is not rocket science.

......on a good note, with the arrival of Spring, my soccer team has started up again. In a surprising start, we won a couple of games this weekend. In an unsurprising start, many of the muscles that I hadn't used since my last game, back when Winter started settling in, are revolting at the sudden change of lifestyle.

......with some luck, either good or bad, I will probably be in Europe for some time this summer, probably staring somwhere in the center and moving east from there. Anyone with any suggestions can send 'em to me.

.....best compliment I've got in a while: "You're my favorite."

Yup, no qualifiers or anything. And it wasn't even from my mom. Or my dad. Or anyone under any sort of cultural or legal obligation to say something like that.

The fire alarm went off at work three times today. Nothing like a piercing 110 db siren to wake you from your cubicle induced coma.

I would write more, but a friend recently called the site "taciturn", and I'd hate to make a liar out of her.
