Should I be worried that I've been listening to The Carpenters recently?

From the MY FRIENDS ARE SMART AND/OR COOL file. Etiquette lessons from Mighty Girl:
It's not polite to push your beliefs on others unless you're holding a picket sign large enough to give fair warning that they should avoid you. In this spirit, one does not properly discuss the population explosion at the mention of a friend's pregnancy, and one does not inform a lunch partner of "exactly how much fat is in that" or the process by which the meat came to be on his or her plate.

Saturday, my friend Schnitz and I hiked from Echo Lakes to Lake Aloha in Desolation Valley (up near Lake Tahoe). I'm too lazy to make up a pretty web page for it, but you can see pics here. It's good to have a friend with a digital camera. The pictures of me with my arms crossed are my failed attempts to mimic "The Baumer" pose from Royal Tennenbaums.

Dumb things you hear on the radio. From an auto dealer ad, "100% of qualified buyers will be approved."

Grrrrrr......."and yet if I were to have them killed, I would be the one to go to jail. That's democracy for you."

So, there will be much huffing and puffing over this, and the song probably does suck, as the lyrics do, but did anyone else read this and think, "Man, Steve should get back on the Horse."?

Slightly new font. Thumbs up? Down? Meh?
This may be a precursor to a site overhaul, which would pretty much keep everything looking the same, but change the underlying structure a great deal.

Two definitions in need of words to define:
1. The act of checking a realtime newsource (CNN, drudgereport.com) solely to see if anything catastrophic has happened in the world since you last checked.
2. The act of, upon the first perusal of someone's CD collection, calculating how much store credit could be obtained by selling all the crap to your favorite used CD store.
Anybody have any ideas?

You can just tell by reading the article that the writer, J. Freedom du Lac, didn't want to interview Lil Bow Wow:
Q: When'd you decide you wanted to be an actor? Was it when you saw Vanilla Ice's first movie, "Cool as Ice," and thought: "Man, if he can do it, I can do it"?

Rep. Howard Berman wants to let the RIAA do bad stuff to your computer. But look who they're going after (empahsis mine):
Berman's proposed legislation calls for a myriad of measures including stronger digital rights management laws, lawsuits by copyright owners, and prosecutions against the most gregarious infringers.
So commit piracy, but for god's sake, don't smile.
